Ulrich Gale, a businessman from Saffron City, traveled to Vermilion City to oversee a business transaction when he met Min-Ling Lee, the only daughter of a mafia boss. For Ulrich it was love at first sight and pursued her for years, writing love letters and sending her flowers. Min-Ling, seeing that her suitor did not care about her family status, agreed to go out with him. Her father allowed them to get married soon after since it was good for business aka income. Since the air was cleaner in Vermilion City than it was in Saffron, Ulrich moved to the coast to live with his wife. They only had one child, a daughter named Evelyn who was everything that a bad-mouthed person was. Growing up near the ocean, she preferred light-colored and thin clothing and almost never have seen snow.
Once she reached the coming of age, Evelyn demanded to go on adventure with pokemon. Neither parents have pokemon of their own and didn't know what to do. Fortunately, the pokemon center in town also served as a laboratory thus having starter pokemon. The young girl automatically chose the turtle pokemon, Squirtle. "I'm going to be the greatest water pokemon trainer, ever!" After battling some of the neighborhood kids and getting some more confidence and an ego boost, she left for her adventure. Before she left however, she told her little baby cousin, Ashe, that she'll come back for the little tot when so she can experience a pokemon journey as well. Unknown to Evelyn, Ashe was actually a boy.
At the age of 18, she got tired of the Kanto and Johto region and went to Hoenn region. This time she decided not to challenge the gyms and enjoy the life of the sea since it was mostly full of ocean. After two years, she met the future judges of Helios on their journey and decided to help them out.

After judging Helios 2011, Evelyn decided go back on duty, saying farewell to her new friends. She went back home first and dropped off Herman, her Blastoise, at her parents' house since they needed the extra help around the house. She went up from a Lieutenant to a Captain in three years, due to arresting criminals at sea. It was during this time when Watt evolved into a Raichu.

- Given as a Egg by a random trainer in the Viridian Forest. Watt is now the leader of Evelyn's team, previously held by Herman the Blastoise whom Watt respected since Herman was Evelyn's starter pokemon. Likes to stick out his butt at other trainers and pokemon. Watt has grown fatter since Helios, mainly because the host kept feeding him, and is now unable to sit on his trainer's shoulders. Now they just hold hands and take a stroll together. He also carries glasses (wise glasses) as a symbol of leadership, referring to the previous leader. Other accessories are a blue scarf and a blue surfboard for the move skill Surf.

- Evelyn rescued Moby as a Wailmer from some pirates in the Hoenn region; however, Moby obtained a scar from the battle on his left side. He at first was not close to his new trainer but eventually grew very fond of her, emitting hearts everything he gets out of his pokeball without the use of seals. He likes to put people in his mouth, then spits them out. Moby also likes to playfully cry out and splash around in the water, which causes tidal waves.

- Captured as a Magnemite. Pliny has a different emotion on each "eye." The one on top is usually the happier one while the left is serious and the right is tired. They can match emotions when shocked, surprised or worried. Pliny has a horrible sense of direction, often straying away from its trainer. It tries to stay close by hovering in circles around Evelyn but Pliny gets dizzy after a while. Pliny also has a knack for drawing in the dirt. Also speaks cheerfully when it meets other trainers.

- Captured as a She;lder. Evelyn lost a bet to her rival and had to name her Shelder VJ Jay. VJ hates his name and refuses to answer to it if Evelyn is not the one saying it. Other than that, VJ just likes to lay around, soaking up the sun. Though, Watt makes fun of him all the time thus using Rock Blast.

She's a overly hopeless romantic, believing in fairy tales such as the Little Mermaid. One day, she hopes to find her prince.

- Captured as a Wopper. Radio likes to float in the water, drifting to where ever the tides take him. It's due to this fixation that Radio has become lazy in everything other than battling. Even on ground, Radio prefers to lay on his back.

I love her dress, and also how she wears her swimwear underneath all of her clothing (a true ocean girl!). Moby's name is awesome (Moby Dick, right?). Also, her look and the colour blue seem to contrast her personality (that's a good thing!), kind of like Archie of Team Aqua (Maxie is the calm one in the anime, whereas Archie is...not). ^^
